Netherlands has encountered several chronologies in history and have witnessed innumerable conquers, and invasion since the ancient days. Like many other countries Netherlands has a deep historical legacy behind its existence; it has seen all the important phases of European history. Previously around 1st century there were many tribes living in Netherlands, among these several tribe the Celtic and the Germanic tribes were the important ones. At this very juncture the Roman Empire was flourishing and tried to conquer each and every land on earth. The Romans invaded Netherlands and conquered the Celtic and the Germanic tribes; however, the invasion was not of brutal in nature every body, the rulers and the ruled were in a happy state. |

With the advent of time many other invasions took place and among these invasions the most powerful was the German invasion. The German invasion was so harsh in nature that it was not at all resistible for the peace loving people of the Netherlands to handle. The German invasion was headed by King Charlse. After acquiring Netherland Charlse had its personal control over it for few years but finally gave it to his son Phillip. This was the turning point as Phillip happened to be one of the most tyrannical rulers and destroyed lives at small instances. This tyrannical rule was abolished by the Netherlanders by having a common front among them and decided to throw the ruler from his throne. This was not at all acceptable to King Charlse and he attacked. The Netherlanders suffered but ultimately grated freedom to them.
The modern phase of Netherlands' history started with the advent of the English; they made Netherlands their colony and exploited them. But as time passed of and technological reformation took place the Netherlanders learned about liberty and freedom and established a respectable and sovereign land of their own.
