The city of Leiden is situated in the province of the South Holland, Netherlands. It forms an urban area with the Valkenburg, Oegstgeest (province), Katwjik (town), Voorschoten (town), Rijnsburg (community) and Leiderdrop (town as well as a municipality). Leiden apart from being a city is also considered to be a municipality and this beautiful city is adored with numerous attractions.

- Naturalis (National Museum for Natural History) – This museum displays a wide range of birds as well as mammals and also includes an extensive collection of spiders, butterflies, beetles, fish, various other kinds of insects, sea animals, plants as well as minerals. This museum also makes arrangements for educational activities and features a information centre and a documentation centre as well.
- The Laklenhal: Municipal Museum– In the early years the Lakenhal was the centre of the textile industry and at present it includes the Municipal Museum that displays works of renowned painters of Leiden, such as Jan Steen, Rembrandt and Lucas van Leyden.
- The Boerhaave Museum – This museum is named after a reputed professor, Professor Herman Boerhaave, who taught chemistry, botany and medicine at the Leiden University. This museum is dedicated to the medicine and natural sciences and is nestled at the Cecilia Hospital, which was regarded to be the first academic hospital of this city.
- National Museum Antiquities – It displays collections of Egypt, Near East as well as of Netherlands and also exhibits classical antiquities.
